I’m heading down to St. Louis, MO for a day at InterVarsity’s Urbana 09 Student Missions Conference to lead a seminar on Asian American Women in Leadership and to be on a panel discussing “Following Jesus Without Dishonoring Your Parents”.
If you’re at Urbana 09, come to the Millenium Hotel, Missouri/Illinois room at 2 p.m. to learn about leadership and then at 4 p.m. to learn about following Jesus!
Hi I came to Urbana as a student and I need some help.
I have a friend who is a Chinese international student and is a brand new Christian. There are only one hundred international students on my campus and I am looking for resources that connect her not only to the America Culture that she spends most of her time in, but also her true citizenship as a Chinese young women and her relationship with God.
I am looking for some people she could connect with (that probabley would be over the computer) that are from her background and can help her with the unique struggles she faces.
I am an Anglo-Saxon and although I am only in the third generation of my family, I recognize that her already developing sense of Christ’s part in her life can be truly deepened only through connecting with some extreme Chinese christians.
Because she is an international student there are many things like really missing home that other Chinese students could help guide her through, I believe.
And she has made it very clear that thier is a big difference to her in her identity as a Chinese international student rather than an Asian American so if you could be so kind as o help me in connecting her with those resources, I would be very greatful.
Her and I have a friendship and I love learning all about her culture , language and sharing what I have learned with my family, but I feel that she needs some more support that is specific to her needs as a member of a rich culture.
Thank you and if you can reply here or give me your email that would be great!
